Philadelphia is one of the most populous cities in the US and is the seat to commercial, cultural, and educational activity on the east coast.  Contrary to belief, Philadelphia is more than just cheese steaks and the Liberty Bell.  Philadelphia is abundant with rich history, many artistic collections and an incredible array of restaurants and dishes that you won’t find anywhere.  If you’re looking for top reasons to visit Philadelphia in 2013, watch this video and then read below.

In 2013, there are a lot of events going on that make Philadelphia, well… Philadelphia.  This summer, the Benjamin Franklin Life and Legacy Museum will be reopening in Franklin Court in the Old City neighborhood.  There, you will find artifacts from Franklin’s life and learn more about him.  There are also a lot of amazing exhibits going on around the city as well including American Spirits: the Rise and Fall of Prohibition at the National Constitution Center going on now until April 28.  Also, at the African American Museum come see The Mary Wilson Collection from January 25th until June 30, 2013 where you can see dresses worn by the legendary singing group: The Supremes!  At Penn Museum, come see Unearthing a Masterpiece, a Roman Mosaic from Lod, Israel from February 10 to May 19.  If bugs are more your thing, come to Morris Arboretum from April 6 to August 31 and see their Big Bugs exhibit.  Or if you’re more of a secret agent, come to The Franklin Institute from May 4 – October 6 and learn more about the Secret World of Espionage!

More of a festival fan?  Philly has got you covered.  From April 18-28 come see the Philadelphia Science Festival.  From May 18 to the 19 come to the Italian Market Festival on South 9th Street.  Are you a beer fan?  May 31 – June 9 is Philly Beer Week.  Music?  Food? Fireworks?  Come to the Wawa Welcome America from late June to July 4 and see it all!
